Midwest VITAL, the Midwest Vehicle Inspection, Testing and Analysis Laboratory, is a dedicated facility built for inspecting, testing and documenting vehicles involved in litigation, insurance claims and other complex disputes.
Finding a place to inspect a vehicle is one of the hardest parts of many cases. Dealerships and repair shops are often reluctant to host inspections tied to litigation, and nobody wants to inspect a vehicle outside. Midwest VITAL gives attorneys, insurers, experts and fleets a neutral, controlled location with the lifts, diagnostic equipment and room for every party to inspect the same vehicle on the same day.

Midwest VITAL was designed specifically for advanced vehicle inspections, testing and joint party inspections. It is not a repair shop, body shop, towing company, state inspection station or storage facility. Vehicles come in for a scheduled inspection, every party works under the same controlled procedures, and the vehicle leaves once the inspection is complete.
Midwest VITAL is new as a facility, but it is backed by the established work of TDT Vehicle Inspection Services. That background spans vehicle inspection, automotive repair, mechanical diagnostics, appraisal, diminished value, commercial vehicle and RV inspections, expert witness work and litigation support. Midwest VITAL brings that experience into a building set up for complex vehicle matters, so attorneys, insurers and experts have a place that understands what their inspections require.
Carlyle, Illinois sits approximately 60 miles east of St. Louis, about 10 miles south of Interstate 70 and 15 miles north of Interstate 64.
Between two major interstate corridors, the facility is within practical reach of St. Louis, the Metro East, Southern and Central Illinois, Eastern Missouri, Western Indiana and regional trucking routes, without the congestion of bringing a vehicle into a major city. For significant matters, parties and vehicles travel from across the greater Midwest.

Passenger cars, pickups, SUVs, luxury, exotic and classic vehicles, commercial trucks, tractor-trailers, buses, motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, utility trailers, and specialty or fleet vehicles. See the full list on our What to Expect page.
The facility fits three passenger vehicles, a car and a tractor-trailer together, or one RV at a time. We schedule one case per day, so vehicles from the same case can be inspected side by side.
Yes. Vehicles can arrive the evening before the scheduled inspection.
Vehicles must be picked up within 24 hours of the inspection. Midwest VITAL is not a storage facility, so vehicles left longer are subject to a fee and will be moved off-site.

Tell us about the vehicle, the matter and who needs to attend. We'll check availability and follow up to confirm your inspection day. Cars, commercial trucks, buses and RVs are welcome. One case per day, so the facility is yours for the inspection.
