Frequently Asked Questions

01.) Is Midwest VITAL a repair shop or a state inspection station?

No. Midwest VITAL is a dedicated facility for inspecting, testing and documenting vehicles involved in litigation, insurance claims and other disputes. We don’t do general repairs, body work, towing, state safety or emissions inspections, used-car inspections or vehicle storage.

02.) What vehicles can the facility handle?

Passenger cars, pickups, SUVs, luxury, exotic and classic vehicles, commercial trucks, tractor-trailers, buses, motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, utility trailers, and specialty or fleet vehicles. See the full list on our What to Expect page.

03.) How many vehicles can be inspected at once?

The facility fits three passenger vehicles, a car and a tractor-trailer together, or one RV at a time. We schedule one case per day, so vehicles from the same case can be inspected side by side.

04.) Can we drop the vehicle off the night before?

Yes. Vehicles can arrive the evening before the scheduled inspection.

05.) How long can a vehicle stay after the inspection?

Vehicles must be picked up within 24 hours of the inspection. Midwest VITAL is not a storage facility, so vehicles left longer are subject to a fee and will be moved off-site.
